(NOTE: The dishwasher is turned upside-down in this drawing.)
After all the wires and hoses are disconnected from the sump, remove the screws and sump holders (2), being careful the sump does not fall into the tub and cause damage.
If the dishwasher is not turned upside-down, but tipped up and leaned back, you can lift the sump out through the tub.
Remove the outer nut and ground wire from the heater. Then loosen the inner nut to the end of the shaft to release the heater.
Remove the screws (3) securing the drain pump to the sump assembly.
Remove two screws to remove the vario motor. It can be removed and replaced without further disassembly of the sump, even with the sump in place.
The turbidity sensor is mounted in the side of the sump. It is held in place with two clips which must be pried loose. It can be removed and replaced without further disassembly of the sump, even with the sump in place.
The turbidity sensor is installed with an O-ring that prevents leakage. It is a tight fit and must be correctly in place to avoid a leak.
When repairing and reassembling the sump assembly, LG recommends replacing the gaskets in it rather than trying to re-use the old ones.
